Nothing Ever Changes

from Poet At Heart D Sides by MilkDrop

about

I wanted to end the project with a song that tied in all the conceptual elements. More or less to bring the story within the story to a close properly. This song to me represents something that we all face in life during certain points. In feeling that nothing ever changes the hindsight after the resolution is that the reality of our world is that nothing ever stays the same if we continue to progress as people.

lyrics

Nothing ever stays the same,
Different stress and the tension you can’t always cut w/ a razorblade,
Though I’m out here still trying to make a way,
Wake up thinking of every move I have to make a day,
Taking that basic flow and making it flame,
Getting easier with every take because all it takes is a page,
Been through a lot a lot of which I’ll take to my grave,
Articles of my soul each 4/4 is an intervention,
Addicted to lines each rhyme is my intervention,
So every time that I’m in a session,
I let it all pour out of my veins,
Never let myself form out of my lane,
Though sometimes I watch the competition play and feel out of the game,
Until I let my writtens gather in my 3rd eye lens and spill out of my brain,
Can’t blame those out for the fame though we’re not powered the same,
I see it all by the hour how the weak grow sour over chains….

This is for those that feel like nothing ever changes,
Those making something out of nothing because nothing keeps em reigned in,
When the rain spits and the storm brews over your heads,
You hate to feel alive when the structure is dead….

See every critic knows the code from past views of the sound so now lines are cold tucked,
Because every emcee thinks they can open shows w/ candy bars and charge as the gold’s clutched,
It’s why everyone’s looking in the corner waiting on the order to go dunce,
Because I’ve paid dues most of these dudes still need to go dutch,
Seeds planted now I’m standing under the old brush,
Standing tall plus the flows grown to cashews so now I ’ma go nuts,
No lay off but in this layout you get the vibe of the playoffs only sure shots no bunts,
So blunt for all herbs w/ no blunts,
To figure out how to go hard or hold crumbs,
Bc there’s much from those who render speech w/ tender gloves just to boast in booths,
I never toast I just sever leads rendered from luck to reproach the truth….

This is for those that feel like nothing ever changes,
Those making something out of nothing because nothing keeps em reigned in,
When the rain spits and the storm brews over your heads,
You hate to feel alive when the structure is dead….
